Director of School Improvement (TT Education)
Kerry Hill (FCCT, MA)
TT Education, the UK’s leading School Improvement Company, work in partnership with Fortis Trust to provide specialist expertise and industry-leading school improvement support. As Director of School Improvement for TT Education, Kerry leads curriculum professional development training across the country in a wide range of topics and to a wide range of education staff including teachers, leaders, and head teachers. Kerry has supported leaders and schools locally and nationally, advising and guiding them through leading regular network meeting events, speaking at a national level, and sharing best practice through published articles and research.
Kerry works nationally with a wide range of schools and provisions across the state and independent sectors. As a part of this, Kerry supports a number of primary and secondary provisions nationally, specialising in SEND including SEMH and ASC in particular, as well as a tier 4 inpatient unit and Secondary residential SEMH setting. She has also been a member of a Local Authority SEND board and member of a tri-county ‘Time to Change’ Steering Group.
In her most recent Headship, the school went through significant change, having been an underperforming school prior to Kerry’s stewardship. Significant cultural and organisational change enabled the school to achieve its first ever GOOD OFSTED under Kerry’s leadership and end of Key Stage 2 progress rates increasing to top levels nationally. Headships and senior leaderships have included a 0 – 11 school with a KS1 and 2 MLD unit, and a mainstream school with a SEMH unit. You may even have seen Kerry on BBC Breakfast news or SKY news during the pandemic as one of the key Head teachers featured during the coverage.
Underpinning her leadership approach is the importance of mental health and wellbeing in education. This has seen her, and her school, recognised by the Princess Royal Training Award (2018 and 2021) for the quality and impact of staff training programmes on mental health. Consequently, Kerry has extensive knowledge, skills and experience in supporting leaders and senior education staff to foster cultural and organisational change to help promote and secure successful outcomes.
Other notable credits highlighting Kerry’s experience, expertise and leadership skills include:
- 2018 Head teacher of the Year finalist
- 2020 awarded Fellowship of the Chartered College of Teaching
- 2022 awarded Industry Fellow – Nottingham Trent University
- 2022 invited to join City and Guilds national Council
- Speaker at the Bett Show, Dyslexia Show and worked with BBC Teach Series and BUPA on teacher mental health
- Masters (distinction) Leadership of Mental Health and Wellbeing in Education
- Level 7 (Masters) in Coaching, Mentoring and Supervision
